How to Get a Heathy Glow

Let me start by saying I do NOT think tan equals beautiful! I personally do not tan because of the risks and because I have found healthy alternatives that work for me. That being said, all things in moderation. Everyone, tanner or not, could use a little extra glow now and then especially in the gloomy winter months. This weather sucks the moisture out of even my (normally quite oily) skin. My color gets pale, pasty, and uneven. I wanted to share my trick for getting a nice healthy glow, like Blake Lively's here, when winter takes its tole on our skin.

What you Need
Your favorite moisturizer or sunscreen
Sunless tanner or cream bronzer

All you do is put a little moisturizer or sunblock in your hand, add a dab of bronzer or sunless. The darker the bronzer, the less you need. I use fake bake extreme, so I use very little which is good because too much will give you that weird sunless smell.. you know the one, not sexy! Just blend the two in your fingers quickly and rub it on your face and neck. Then wash your hands. This is a key step to avoid orange fingers :)

Yes, this is similar to using a tinted moisturizer. However, I think doing is this way gives you more of a shimmer. This alternative also gives you more control to customize. For example, my oily skin only tolerates a couple moisturizers. This allows me to use my favorite. You can also customize the color by adding more bronzer when you want to be darker.

I use this trick often. I hope you all get some use out of one of my very favorite beauty secrets!

Go Greek Yo

So slowly but surely I have been trying to eat healthier. I'm in nursing school so everyday its in my face the nutrition plays a role in our health, I have two little ones and its clear to me that they learn primarily from example, and hello tomorrow is my birthday and I am reminded I am getting older and my metabolism will not be good to me forever. My goal is to slowly integrate healthier choices into my diet and I wanted to share a couple easy changes I am making that you may want to consider.

1st is GREEK YOGURT. It taste almost identical to sour cream except its high in protein and low in fat. Such and easy and health switch. When you taste it alone you can taste a slight difference but when you mix it with food you would never know it wasn't sour cream.

Next, don't eat canned veggies. They have oddles of sodium and not much nutrients. I used to think "hmm it's a veggie so its healthy"... read the label they really aren't good I promise. Fresh or frozen is better. I usually do frozen because it is as convenient as a can and not much more expensive.

Try it! I will keep you guys posted on other ideas to eat a little healthier as I continue in my journey to stop eating like a "12 year old fat kid" as one friend described it. lol
